Privacy policy
Worbles is a word-puzzle game for iPhone. This page explains, in plain language, what the game and this website collect and why. If anything is unclear, email us at support@playworbles.com.
The short version
- No accounts. You never sign up or give us your name or email to play.
- Your progress stays on your iPhone.
- Anonymous gameplay statistics help us improve the game. They can't be tied to you, and you can switch them off in Settings.
- No ads in the current version, and no tracking.
- Optional extras (Daily reminders, Game Center) are off unless you choose them.
- This website uses no cookies and no analytics.
Anonymous gameplay statistics
The game sends a small number of anonymous usage signals through TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service that processes them on our behalf. We use them only in aggregate, to answer questions like "is level 6 too hard?" or "do people find the Daily?".
What a signal contains
- Gameplay events, such as a game or level starting and ending, the score, how many words you made and how long the longest was, whether a tip was shown, a booster used, a Daily finished or shared, or a setting switched on or off. Values are simple counts, numbers and yes/no answers.
- Standard technical fields added by the analytics software: app version and build, iOS version, device model, language and region setting, and whether the app came from TestFlight or the App Store.
- An anonymous ID. The software makes it on your iPhone by hashing (scrambling one way) an identifier Apple gives each app on each device. It lets us count returning players without knowing who they are. It isn't your Apple Account, it isn't the advertising identifier, and we can't use it to find out who you are.
What is never sent
Your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos or location; the words you play or any text you type; your board or letters; your Game Center identity; your purchase receipts; and the advertising identifier (IDFA). The game doesn't use Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt because it doesn't track you across other companies' apps or websites, and we don't sell or share this data with advertisers or data brokers.
Turning it off
On the Home screen, tap the gear to open Settings and switch off Share anonymous usage data. From then on the game sends nothing, including the analytics software's own automatic session signals. You can switch it back on at any time.
Your progress and settings
Your levels, stars, scores, Daily streak, boosters and settings are saved on your iPhone, in the app's own storage. They aren't uploaded to us. If you back up your iPhone with iCloud or a computer, they are included in that backup, which Apple and you control.
Daily reminders (optional)
If you turn on the Daily reminder, iOS asks for permission to show notifications. The game then schedules local notifications on your iPhone at the time you pick. Nothing is sent to a server, and the game doesn't use push notifications. Turn it off in the game's Settings (Daily reminder) or in iOS Settings, Notifications, Worbles.
Game Center (optional)
If you are signed in to Game Center on your iPhone, the game can post your scores (such as your Daily score) to Game Center leaderboards. The game doesn't ask you to sign in. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's own terms and privacy policy, and, as in any Game Center game, other players may see your Game Center nickname and score on the leaderboard. You can sign out or change what's shared in iOS Settings, Game Center.
Sharing a Daily result
When you tap Share on a Daily result, the game prepares a short, spoiler-free message (the puzzle number, your score, a grid of coloured squares and a link) and opens the iOS share sheet. You choose whether and where to send it. We don't see it.
In-app purchases
Any purchase in Worbles is made through the App Store and processed by Apple. We never see your name, payment card or billing details. Apple tells the game which items you own so it can unlock them.
Ads
The current version of Worbles shows no ads and includes no advertising software. If that changes, we will update this policy, and the App Store privacy details, before that version is released.
This website
playworbles.com sets no cookies, runs no analytics and loads nothing from other companies: its fonts, images and scripts all come from this site. Like any website, it is delivered by a hosting provider (Cloudflare), whose servers necessarily handle technical details such as your IP address in order to send you the pages and protect the site from abuse. We don't turn on visitor analytics or logging and don't use that data to identify anyone.
Children
Worbles is a general-audience game. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The game itself collects no personal information from anyone, only the anonymous statistics described above. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, for example in a support email, contact us and we will delete it.
How long data is kept
- Progress and settings stay on your iPhone until you delete the app (or restore a device backup).
- Anonymous statistics are stored by TelemetryDeck for us and used only in aggregate. We keep them only as long as they help us improve the game.
- Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you, and deleted on request.
Deleting your data
- Delete the app to remove all of your progress and settings from your iPhone. (Remove it from your backups too if you want it gone everywhere.)
- Anonymous statistics can't be tied to you, so there is nothing we could look up and delete for a particular person. Switching off Share anonymous usage data stops any more being sent.
- Purchases stay with your Apple Account, and Game Center data is managed by Apple.
- Emails you sent us: ask and we'll delete them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example in the UK, the EU or California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information about you, or to object to how it's used. Because the game doesn't collect information that identifies you, most of these are answered by the sections above, but you're always welcome to ask us, and you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
If the game or this website starts handling data differently, we'll update this page and the effective date above before the change takes effect, and mention significant changes in the App Store release notes.
